Overview: Our Summer Surf Camp is held at our Rosecrans Ave. location in the El Porto area of Manhattan Beach and is open to ages 7 and up with instructors assigned to groups divided by age and surfing experience. Our Surf Camp is different from others in the way we pass on surfing and ocean knowledge. Our ratio of 1 instructor to a max of 4 students guarantees surfing improvement, personal attention and, most importantly, safety. All of Our Head Instructors are Red Cross Certified Lifeguards, as well as CPR & First-Aid Certified, and are among the top surfers and watermen in the area, each with years of teaching experience and training. If you’re looking for a great foundation in surfing, book a surf camp with us. We guarantee you’ll see results by the end of the week!
What’s Included: Our Surf Camp includes the use of a surfboard, Body Glove wetsuit and 3-3.5 hours of surf instruction daily. Select sessions will include guest appearances by Body Glove-sponsored riders and lectures from local oceanographers and our friends from the Surfrider Foundation about the ocean environment. We pride ourselves on the quality of our instruction and the caliber of our instructors. We are not a beach activities camp and we guarantee each participant will have the ability to safely and confidently surf on their own after a week of surf camp.
Schedule: Surf Camp starts at 10:00AM with drop off and check-in at the Campsurf Van (Directions). Each day begins with a quick stretch session, surf check, and on-land surf instruction covering topics such as rip currents, tides, surf equipment and surfing etiquette. We then head into the water for 1.5 hours of surf instruction. We break for lunch at 12:00PM, review one of our daily educational topics (“Tide Tuesday”, “Wave Wednesday”, “Eco-Thrsday”, etc.) then head back into the water for another 1.5 hours of surf instruction. Pick-up is at 2:00PM at the same location as sign-in. Safety is our number one priority, so this schedule may vary slightly based on surfing conditions. Surfers may bring their own lunch or purchase lunch. If they wish to purchase lunch, please send them with $10 cash. You can check out the weekly lunch options for campers Here.
What to Bring: All you need to bring is a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, water and lunch or $10 for lunch (Click here for weekly lunch options). We provide surfboards and wetsuits, but campers are welcome to bring their own equipment.
